Indian movie story will be incomplete without the discussion of the love story between Rekha and Amitabh. This love story started almost 4 decades ago but still it is in everyone's memory. This love story is still a mystery as both of the actors never accept the relationship in public.
Rekha-Amitabh love story is the unsuccessful one where both of the actors are successful romantic pairs of Bollywood.
It is rumour that thier love story began in 1976 on the "Do Anjaane" film's sets. In the intial period of their relationship they used to meet secretly in one of Rekha's friend's bungalow. Every thing was happening silently. But one day their close affairs came into media for an incident. Amitabh was angry to one of the co-actors who misbehaved with Rekha during the shoos of Ganga ki Saugandh (1978). From then media has focused on their meeting and talking as well.
There was a rumour that Amitabh was secretly married to Rekha. Officially Rekha was unmarried but in Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Sing's wedding she cam wearing sindoor and mangalsutra. Her appearance was questionable. Everywhere people just talk about their affairs. After this incident Jaya Bachchan wife of Amitabh invited Rekha home for dinner and boldly stated that she would never leave her husband away and till now Amitabh and Jaya are living together.
In 1984 Rekha gave an interview to Filmfare magazine where she spoke about Amitanh's denial off their relationship. Rekha also stated that Amitabh is an old-fashioned man and does not want to hurt his wife.
Amitabh never admitted his extra-marital relationship with Rekha. On the other hand Rekha boldly admitted about her love for Amitabh.
In the movie Silsila Amitabh and Rekha appeared together for the last time. This movie was super hit and still people love it for its script, music, and obviously for Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha. After Silsila Rekha wanted to give a name to their relationship as she knew that there was no future of their relationship. Amitabg did not want to marry her. The director of the movie Silsila also stated that before Silsila Amitabh and Rekha were in close relationship. After Silsila Amitabg ignored Rekha altogether.
Rekha married to Mukesh Aggarwal in 1990. Mukesh was a Delhi based industrialized. Their marriage lasted just for one year. He committed suicide while Rekha was in London. It was rumoured that Rekha was married to actor Vinod Mehra what Rekha denied in a television interview with Simi Garewal in 2004. Rekha said Vinod was just a well wisher.
